Yamunotri Temple

Yamunotri Temple is situated in Uttarkashi District of Uttarakhand Sate in India. Yamunotri Temple is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna or Yamuna Devi, there is a black marble idol of Devi Yamuna in the temple. This is very popular place and very great place of Hindu religious and faith of Hindus.


Yamunotri is a Dham out of the Char Dham. This is part of Chota Char Dham which are respectively are Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.


South of Bandarpunchunch - Yamunotri temple is situated at the end of south of Bandarpunch or tail of Hanuman. This place is surrounding with beautiful and natural variety of thick plants and trees or thick forest available which make it very attractive to devotees as well as tourists and also can enjoy by seeing the fabulous sites and mountain peaks.


Hindu Mythology - According to the Hindus mythology, the river Yamuna is known as the daughter of Lord Suriya or the Sun and Yamraj or ‘God of Death’ is the son of Lord Suriya. So, It is said that the person who dip in Holy water of Yamuna, they would not feels pain at the time of death of particular.


Sources of Hot water - There are some sources of hot water that water comes from thermal springs, usually people used this hot water to cooked their food like rice, potatoes etc. Yamunotri temple is only worship temple of this holy place in Yamunotri.


Kalind Mountains - The genesis or source of Yamuna water is come from the Kalind mountains where snow melt into water and falls here so Yamuna river name is Kalind too. Kalind Mountain is popular just melting ice water falls and became the main source of Yamuna water.


Surya Kund - Popular due to its hot water and devotee cooked rice by dipped rice tie in muslin cloth. The water of Suriya Kund comes from the thermal springs near of Yamunotri Temple.


Divya Shila - Before entering into Yamunotri temple pilgrimage traveler must be worship to this slab pillar or shila. It is just near located of Surya Kund.


Jamuna Bai Kund - Jamuna Bai Kund also near of Surya Kund, devotee often take bath in it because the water of this Kund is little hot so very comfortable for taking bath after it devotee go for worship.


Best time to visit Yamunotri Temple


Open and Close Month Time - Yamunotri temple is opened for pilgrimages in moth of April and its closing time in November or the time of Deepawali.


Daily Timing - Yamunotri temple is open at 6 O’clock in the morning and continues up to 8 O’clock in the evening.


Aarti Timing - Morning aarti time is 6:30 AM and evening time of aarti is 7:30 PM.


Special Puja - There are only two big festival when special worship offers in Yamunotri temple one is Deepawali and another is Krishna Janmashtami.


How to reach Yamunotri Temple


Air way - Narest Airport for Yamunotri is Dehradun jolly grant airport and it is just 210 km. You can also book helicopter from Dehradun to Yamunotri.


Road way - There are some ways by road to reach Yamunotri are Dharasu, Barkot, Dehradun by buses or taxies.


Railway - To reach Yamunotri by train, trains available for Yamunotri from Haridwar, Rishikesh, Kotdwar and Dehradun.
