Lakshmi Narayan Temple is located in Bhopal city of Madhya Pradesh state. This temple is also known as 'Birla Mandir'. The temple was established by the Birla family, India's premier industrial estate. The statues of Lord Vishnu, Shiva and other incarnations can be seen in this temple.

Established five decades ago on the hill, this temple has been a center of religious faith for years. The beautiful statues of God Shree Hari Vishnu and Lakshmi ji established in the temple are just attracting devotees towards him. Spread over 7-8 acres of hilly terrain, the fame of this temple is spread across various cities of the country and the state. The carvings of various mythological scenes inside the temple are visible only on the marble, they are also taught 'Geeta' and 'Ramayana'. For the entrance of the temple, the semiconductor, the Mahamandap, the circumscription and the sanctum sanctorum. On the walls of the pavilion, the Mahamandap and the circumscription, the verses of the Vedas, Geeta, Ramayana, Mahabharata and Puranas etc. are written.

Apart from the statues of Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi inside the temple, Shiva on the one hand and the statue of Mother Jagadamba on the other side is sitting. Hanuman and Shivling are established in the temple premises. The huge conch is also visible in front of the temple's main entrance. At the time of the establishment of the temple, the former Chief Minister, Kailashnath Katju, had given the land to the Birla family to set up the industry in the city, with the condition that they should construct a grand and huge temple in this remote mountainous region. At the time of inauguration of the temple, the huge Vishnu Mahayagya was also organized, in which many scholars and religious scholars participated. Even today, this temple is the main center of the people's faith. Here is the main event of Shri Krishna birth on 'Janmashtami', in which a large number of devotees’ worship Lord Vishnu.


Location of Lakshmi Narayan Temple

Lakshmi Narayan Temple is situated in the Malviya Nagar area of Bhopal, south of the lake situated near the Arora Hills. A museum is built near the temple, in which statues brought from places of Raisen, Sehore, Mandsaur and Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh have been kept. The museum built near the temple is open every Monday from 9 a.m. to even 5 p.m. Monday. This temple is built on top of the hills and is located at the highest point of Bhopal district. The temple is situated in a mountainous area, but the path to the temple is well constructed and its climb is also easy.


Foundation History of Lakshmi Narayan Temple

The foundation stone of this temple was done in 1960 by the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr. Kailashnath Katju and in the inaugural year 1964, the Chief Minister was completed at the hands of Dwarka Prasad Mishra. The temple is dedicated to goddess Lakshmi and her husband Lord Vishnu.
