About Chota Imambara

The Chota Imambara is located in Lucknow city of Uttar Pradesh. The Chota Imambara is also called Hussainabad Imambara. Located in Lucknow, it is the composition of Imambara Mohammed Ali Shah which was constructed in 1837 AD. It is believed that Muhammad Ali Shah was buried here. In the Chota Imambara itself is the story of Muhammad Ali Shah's daughter and son-in-law. Chota Imambara located in the town of Nawab’s, which is a replica of the Taj Mahal. Chota Imambara is also called 'Palace of Light', because it was well decorated during the festivals. The chandeliers engaged in this monument were imported from Belgium. It was called for the interior. At the same time, the moon is made up of the dome, which is the sun rising in its lap. At the same time, there is a fish on the gate near the canal, which shows the attitude of air.

How to Reach Chota Imambara

You can take local transport, taxi, auto rickshaw and bicycle rickshaw to reach Chota Imambara from any part of Lucknow or you can stroll from nearby hotels to reach there. Nearby transport can be taken from Alambagh bus stand which will take you legally to Imambara. There are also Metro Railway facilities to reach Chota Imambara which are Durgapuri Metro (3 km), Charbagh Metro (3 km), Alambagh Metro (3 km), Mawaiya Metro (4 km) and Krishan Nagar Metro (6 km) respectively.

Architecture of Chota Imambara

There is a golden and big dome on the main top of the Chota Imambara. This building is considered to be the tomb of Ali Shah and his mother. In the opposite direction of the tomb, there is an incomplete clock called 'Satkhand'. It is said that construction work was stopped after the death of Mohammad Ali Shah in 1840 AD. By that time, the height of the clay was 67 meters high. On the occasion of the Muslim festival of Muharram, this impressive decoration of the Imambara is made and the tourists visit it.

At this place there are few other beautiful buildings other than the Chota Imambara. Nawab Irani was a Shia community who initially used to be clerks of the Mughals but later when the Mughals became weak, they declared themselves independent. Even today Shia Muslim community is a large part of the population of Lucknow, Nawab Known for the chic bath, he used to charge his subjects fairly and some of them used to give to the Mughals.

Eat dinner

When you turn to this Imambara adjacent to the road, the first thing is that there is a large and beautiful main entrance of the Naubat Khana, and after this, there is the Shahi Hamam on the left side of the meal and the Hussainabad Masjid on the right side.

The royal Hamam was only for the Nawab, he used to enter the Imamabara after bathing here. There was a lot of development after the arrival of the Mughals in India; these Hamam is also the responsibility of those Iranians, never having such a bathroom for a common man in India.

Chota Imambara main building

This part of the Chota Imambara campus shows Nawab's chic, in fact it is a long broad hall where Shia Muslims are eclipsed on the occasion of their festivities, inside the hall there are chandeliers, lamps and tazia. This chandelier has been brought from Belgium, Paris and because of that, the whole hall is sparkling, hence this place is also called Palace of Light.

Princess Jinnat's tomb

On the right side of the Chota Imambara there is a tomb of Jinnat. Jinnat was the daughter of Nawab Muhammad Ali Shah, who had a short stay in her life. The structure of this tomb is inspired by the Taj Mahal, but in the case of workmanship, this Tomb is faded by the present treasury which is made in front of it.

Hussainabad Mosque

Built on the right side of the entrance, this mosque is small but very beautiful in size; like the mosque in Bara Imambara is larger than this in both shape and texture.

In a portion of Imambara, there is the tomb of Nawab and his Begum, the real history of Chota Imambara is difficult to know why it was built. Guides about history and local people tell different stories. Now what is the truth, the truth is not revealed till yet.
