Surya Kund

Suryakund - Surya Kund is place located in Yamunotri and near of Yamunotri temple. Surya Kund ‘s water is hot and it is naturally hot, often people used this water for bath and to make rice and potatoes be boil . Water of Surya Kund is too hot easy prepare of rice just few time has to dip rice tie in a muslin clothes and wait few minutes after that ready for eat. This is very interesting things and quality of Surya Kund. Who comes to Yamunotri Temple always remember and inquisitive about Surya Kund magic to prepare rice in hot water. The temperature of Surya Kund’ water approximates 88 degree Celsius. After cooked rice, devotee takes cooked rice and brings to their home as Prasadam and also offered to this rice to deity and distributes it too. This water comes from the hot springs gushing out from the hill cavities near the Yamunotri temple. Hot spring is located surrounding of snow capped peak of mountain. It is very interesting think that how hot water comes from very low degree temperature surrounding.

Divya Shila - Divya Shila or Shila is located near of Yamunotri, Yamunotri temple and Surya Kund. Divya Shila is a big stone or rock pillar where devotee worshipped it. Rock pillar is called the slab of light. It must be worshipped before entering into the Yamunotri Temple.

According to Hindus mythology Lord Sun or Suriya known as the father of Yamuna River so that this spring falls place is called Suriya Kund.
