National Library Kolkata

Behind the National Library is the history of the Calcutta Public Library. Initially, it was a non-governmental organization. This library is located in Alipore, Kolkata. It is open from 9 am to 8 pm in normal days and is open from 9.30 am to 6.00 in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays.

There are about twenty two lakhs seventy thousand books in it. In addition to this, there are eight six thousand maps and about three thousand manuscripts are present. In its reading room, which has an anonymous language building, about five hundred people can sit together.

Materials can be assembled from here for any kind of exploration. These libraries, filled with many fine books of different branches, are a wonderful learning center.

Some rules have to be followed to enter the language building. First, you have to take an application from the National Library's official website, which has to be certified by a gazette officer and deposited in the National Library. After this, there is a reader pass between three to four o'clock in any common day.

A library like 'Hidden chamber' was found in this library. As of 2010, the ASI Department of the Ministry of Culture of the Ministry of Culture found it. This unfamiliar room was spread in about one thousand square feet. This is the concept that these rooms were used by Warren Hastings and other British officials to punish people. In order to strengthen the foundation of this bullying, announced in 2011, this room is being filled with soil and mud.

During 1760 in Kolkata, Mir Zafar had built many buildings. One of them is the Belvedere House, which now has Kolkata's National Library. Belvedere House Mir Jafar gifted Lord Warren Hastings, first Governor General of India.

This library was established on March 21, in the year 1836 as the Lieutenant Governor of Kolkata and the public library of a private property in Viceroy's house. This library is located in Belbedre House. There is a collection of about 1800000 books and documents here.

Indian National Library is located in Kolkata. This public library started its journey on March 21, 1836. The library was established for the purpose of reference and lending. This library was opened to everyone, beyond category, color or nationality, on self-financed theory. It is India's largest library and it is recognized as a national importance institution.

The library was later merged with the Imperial Library and after collecting the collections of several secretariat libraries, the Imperial Library opened in January 1903 to the public.

After the independence of India, in 1948, the 'National Library' came into existence by the Imperial Library Act replacing the Imperial Library. It has been given a special status to be an institution of national importance in Article 62 of the 7th Schedule of the Union List of the Constitution of India, and the then Union Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad opened the library on February 1, 1953 to the public.

Dwarkanath Tagore was the first librarian of his first boss and father of Bengali novels, beloved Chand Mitra. Lord Curzon changed this to a national institution in 1954, after the introduction of the Books of Public Library (Public Library) and subsequent change in 1956, it receives a copy of all the publications, including all the newspapers published in India. This compilation of Indian national reference bibliography has been possible.

The second work of this library is to compile short reference lists for research students and serious readers on their subjects.

The library is sited at the Belvedere Estate, close to Alipore Zoo in Kolkata (Calcutta) which is just 10 km from Howrah Station and 20 km from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. You can easily get local buses and auto rickshaws to achieve National Library from there or any places in Kolkata.
