History of Dakshineswar Kali Mata Temple

These temples are based on the special architectural arts of Bengal, Navaratna. With the front door of the south this temple is of three males. There are 9 summits in total. This temple is spread over 20 acres of land. Mata Bhavatarini is the name of the goddess Mata Kali, established in this temple. Ramakrishna Paramahansa arrived in this temple in 1855 AD. It was his elder brother Pujari Ramkumar's assistant, after Ramkumar's death, he became a priest here. The day of setting up the statue of Mata Kali in this temple is fixed on the day of 'Shabbat Yatra'. On 31 May 1855, many priests and pundits were invited to worship from various provinces of India. Accepting this invitation, nearly one lakh priests took part in the idolatry installation. After the inauguration of this temple, Rani Rashmoni was able to stay here only for five years and nine months, after which her health began to deteriorate. Having found himself near death in 1861, he handed over his land, which he purchased in Dinajpur, to the trust of the temple, in which the temple could be maintained continuously.

How to Reach Dakshineswar Kali Temple

Via train - Dakshineswar is railway station on the Sealdah (in the core of Kolkata)- Dankuni (on the Howrah-Bardhaman harmony line) segment. It is 14 km from Sealdah and 10 km from Dankuni. Many nearby destinations prepares specially Dankuni Local from Sealdah station stop here and some long distance prepares, for example, Darjeeling mail likewise stop at this station.

By Road - it is connected with Kolkata. One needs to go along Barrackpore Trunk Road, a noteworthy vein in north Kolkata, and turn left for Dakshineswar soon after Baranagar and before Dunlop rail over extension. Belgharia flyover will connect it to Jessore Road and Dum air terminal. Vivekananda Setu over the Hooghly River at Dakshineswar interfaces it to, Bally, Uttarpara and Dankuni on the other bank and on to Grand Trunk Road, Delhi Road, Bombay Road and Durgapur Expressway. Another scaffold named 'Nivedita Setu' has been worked to back out the heap of old extension, 'Vivekananda Setu'. There are numerous transports from Kolkata, also from spots over the river.

Architecture of Dakshineswar Kali Temple

Dakshineswar Kali temple has 12 dome. Twelve temples of Lord Shiva have been established around this huge temple. The temple of Mother Kali is situated on the terrace in the form of a huge building. It can enter through stairs. This temple situated on the south side is three-storey. The nine domes are spread evenly on the two floors above. Beautiful shapes have been made on the terrace of the domes. On the inner side of the temple, Dakshin Maa Kali, Lord Shiva stood on. Devotees sit and worship around the place where the statue of Goddess is placed.

Temple of Lord Vishnu is built in the north direction - east direction of Dakshineswar temple. This temple has a statue of twenty-one-inch god Krishna and sixteen-inch Radha statue. It is believed that Lord Ram Krishna Paramahansa used to worship in this temple himself. At the time of Kali Puja, this place becomes the center of attraction. During this time the temple is decorated very well with the use of various types of lights and different types of flowers. From the morning on the day of worship the devotees begin waiting for the main door to open. The Belur Math is located just three kilometers from Dakshineswar temple, so coming here comes the philosophy of the Belur math very easily.
