Calcutta has always been the center of spirituality, one of the reasons for this is that people here believe in god and goddesses. Kalighat is the temple of Kali. Kalighat also has a place in 51 Shaktipeeths of India. It is believed that the thumb of Sati had fallen on here. In January 1570, the multi-Padmavati Devi of the Subarna Roy Chaudhary family appeared a divine light coming out of the black hole. On passing, it was seen that this light was coming from a toe-shaped small stone. With this miracle Lakshmikant Roy Chaudhary was born in the month of October this year.

The Kali Mata temple seen in the present time is only 200 years old. While its history is around the fifteenth century. The original temple was a small hut in ancient times. The temple of today is built by Santosh Roy Chaudhary of the descendants of Subarna Roy Choudhary.

There is a place named 'Sosti Tala' in the temple. It is a cactus plant that has stones in its roots. Those called mother 'Sosti, mother Sheetala and mother Mangal Chandi are called. It was founded in 1880 by a devotee named Govind Das. It is also believed to be the tomb of Brahmanand Giri. Here religious women see women.

There is a temple of Lord Shiva with this temple, which is called the Nakuleshwar Temple. In addition, there is also a temple of Radha-Krishna. Regarding the temple of Radha Krishna, it is said that it was established in 1723 AD.

The idol of Mother Kali, situated in it, is different from other black statues of Bengal. The present statue was compiled by two sadhus, whose names were Atmaram Brahmachari and Brahmanand Giri. This statue is based on the form of 'Mata Bhubaneswari'. Mother Bhubaneswari, is the goddess of Subarna Roy Chaudhary's family.

How to Reach Kalighat

If you are in Kolkata, then you can reach Dharmatala, the main site here, from the metro and tram to Kalighat. There is also a Kolkata metro station in Kalighat. The Kalighat tram can also be reached. Howrah railway station is seven kms away from Kalighat. The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's ancestral home is in the Kali Ghat area only.

The main road where you descend from the tram, is the gateway of the Kalighat Temple. After walking half a kilometer on this road, the temple of Mother Kali comes to the left.


Best Time to visit Kalighat

Worshiped especially in Tuesday and Saturday along with Ashtami, and the crowd of devotees is very much inclined.

This temple is open from 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. In the middle of the afternoon this temple is closed from 2 to 5 a.m. In this period enjoyment is done. Mangala Aarti occurs at 4 in the morning, but the temple for the devotees is opened at 5 o'clock.

    Mother Kali Aghori is known as Saroparri Devi of Kriya and Tantra mantra, and this temple is also the Shaktipeeth of this Goddess. For these reasons, this remains a very large center of great and tantric sadhana.


    Kali Shaktipeeth

    Kalighat Kali Temple is a famous temple of Kali, in Kalighat, Kolkata, West Bengal. There are several legendary places of Bhagwati in Kolkata. Traditionally, the Kali Ghat, 7 kilometers away from Howrah station, is considered as Shaktipeeth, where 4 fingers of the right foot of Sati (leaving a thumb) collapsed. The power here is 'Kalika' and Bhairav is 'Nakulesh'. In this back there is a grand statue of Kali, whose long red tongue has emerged from the mouth. In the temple, the trinayana mata, Rathamambara, Mundallini, Muktakeshi are also sitting. There is also a temple of Nakulesh nearby.

    The idol of Goddess Kali is installed in the Kali temple. In this statue, the feet of Goddess Kali Lord Shiva are laid on the chest. They have necklaces in their necks. They have ax and some soft palm in their hands. Some of them have been locked in their waist. Their tongue is out. Some drops of blood are also dripping with their tongue.
