Onshore investigations in and around Porbandar exposed, out of the blue, the remaining parts of a late Harappan settlement going back to the sixteenth - fourteenth century BCE, which is like that from Bet Dwarka. There is confirmation to recommend that the Harappan heritage of oceanic movement proceeded till the late Harappan period on the Saurashtra drift. The disclosure of antiquated breakwaters along the Porbandar rivulet means the significance of Porbandar as a functioning focal point of oceanic exercises previously. Past Harappan age and established Vedic ages, Indian folklore says it is the origin of Sudama (companion of Lord Krishna in Dwaparyug): thus, it is alluded to as Sudaamapuri or Sudamapu.
