Overview of Kanyakumari Shaktipeeth


Kanyakumari Shaktipeeth is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. According to the Puranas of Hindu religion, wherever the pieces of the sati, the clothes or the ornaments held, fallen, there Shaktipeeth came into existence. This is called a very holy pilgrimage. These pilgrimage spots are spread across the Indian subcontinent. The Devi Purana describes the 51 pilgrim spots in which Kanyakumari Shaktipeeth is among one of them.


Introduction to Kanyakumari Shaktipeeth

The temple of Bhadrakali is situated in the temple of Kanyakumari situated at the confluence of three seas. This is the story of Kumari Devi. There are many deities in the temple. There is a prayer from a little distance from the temple. There is a quaint barbecue on the beach, whose water is sweet. This is called Manduka Tirtha. Travelers bath in this. Vivekananda is situated on the shore a little further in the sea, where is the statue of Swami Vivekananda. It is said that Swamiji used to meditate while sitting there.


How to reach Kanyakumari Shaktipeeth


Kanyakumari is connected by rail and road. It is 80 kilometers away from Trivandrum. It can be reached by train or bus from Chennai and Trivandrum.
