Forest Research Institute (FIR)

The Forest Research Institute (FIR) is one of the oldest institute of Indian Council of Forestry Institute is located in Dehradun, a capital of Uttarakhand in North India. FIR was established in year of 1906 and later in 1991, it is declared as deemed university by the University Grant Commission (UGC).It spreads around 4.5 kilometers square.
There are laboratories, book library, botanical gardens, printing equipments and other experimental things available in The Forest Research Institute. FIR also famous for tourisms, so many tourists come here it explore it. It is just 7 kilometers from Clock Tower (Ghantaghar) Dehradun. Indian Forest Services’ officers are trained here.
Forestry Museum - Forestry Museum is one of best museum is located in FIR and it another attraction of tourists. It opens everyday at 9:30 o’clock morning and closes at 5 o’clock evening. There are six sections in it. Pathology Museum, Social Forestry Museum,Silviculture Museum, Non Wood Forest Museum, Entomology and Timber Forest Museum are there inside it.
More than 12 Bollywood movies has been shot in this popular campus and others like television serial as well as songs also shot here. There is kinds of tree are available here in the world.
