Gangtok is a popular hill station and chosen tourist destination in India which is located in the state of Sikkim. The popular attractions of this place are like two hundred years old Enchey monastery. the spectacular attractiveness of a huge and striking stupa du-Drul Chorten and the Dodrupchen monastery are the other famous attractions of this place which is a large monastery of Nyingma tradition, famous for its large Chorten. Flower show near White Hall during flowering season is another attractive attraction of this place.

The Rumtek monastery is the most famous cloister in the city and other great monasteries in Gangtok include the Enchey and the Dodapachan Monastery, which offer tourists a sight of the Gangtok philosophy and some delightful styled architecture found in the monasteries. Places to Visit in Gangtok

Orchid Sanctuary Go to this sanctuary and pleasure your eyes with the attractiveness and lure of more than 400 species of orchids. Orchid festival is celebrated in the city during the spring.

Enchey Monastery: There are exciting stuffs related with this historical monastery. In the memory of “The great Tantric master Lum Drupalp Karpen” it was built before 200 years ago. The yearly jubilee 'Chaam' is celebrated here with excessive eagerness and passion. The sacred guise is a big draw of this dance festival.

Tashi View Point: Go to this place and you are guaranteed to receive the eyes and brain from the breathtaking scenes of the Kanchenjunga mountain range.

Do Drul Chorten: This is a beautiful stupa which is detained in high esteem by the locale of Sikkim. Stupa is stunningly decorated with the top pinnacle of gold, it also has 108 Mani Lakhor (prayer wheels) which are changed while contemplating Buddhist devotees.

Tsomgo Lake: It is a beautiful lake situated between the beautiful green and attractive surroundings. Presenting a panoramic view of the Himalayas, this lake is situated at an altitude of 12, 210 feet. this place becomes dotted with colorful flowers during the monsoon season. Since the lake falls under the subtle area, tourists need to travel it.

Rumtek Monastery: It is one of the greatest prestigious pilgrimage sites of the Buddhists. It is situated between the high mountains and the soothing waterfalls 24 km away from Gangtok. Rumtek Monastery is known for the Kagyu School of Buddhism, which was built in the 16th century with financial support of Sikkim's fourth king, under the administration of 9th Karmapa Wangchuk Dorje. In the monastery, the Golden Stupa included the remnants of 16th Karmapa. This monastery arranges various Tibetan festivals during the year and is popularly known as Tse-Chu Chaam Annual Dance Festival held on the 10th day of June.

Namgyal Institute of Tibetology: Which the world's largest collective work and rare manuscripts of Mahayana Buddhism, Sikkim is also known as Research Institute of Tibetology (SRIT), Namgyal Institute. Tibetan Science is one of the main institutions in Sikkim. The Museum of this Institute is home to more than 200 Buddhist symbols, ancient portraits, Thangkas, sculptures, temples, textiles, masks and other religious works of Tibetan talent. The name of this institute was named after Late Paulden Thondup Namgyal (Sikkim's Chogyal).

How to reach Gangtok

How to reach Gangtok by Air: The nearest airport will be Bagdogra, West Bengal, if you want to reach Gangtok by flights. It is about 124 km from Gangtok north, it is a major airport that is well connected and is the most popular cities of India and continuous flights. On reaching the airport, you can rent a cab or a private vehicle to reach Gangtok, which will take about 4-5 hours.

How to reach Gangtok by Train : Waiting to travel by train? New Jalpaiguri is the nearest railway station of Gangtok. New Jalpaiguri from Gangtok is about 117 km away. You can easily take a train to New Jalpaiguri, and if you land down, you can take a shared jeep to rent to Gangtok or rent a private taxi. New Jalpaiguri is a major railway junction which is well connected to many cities across India.

How to reach Gangtok by Road : Siliguri is the place from where a public bus, public or private taxi can take to reach Gangtok. If you are planning to take the roadways, then the distance between Siliguri and Gangtok is about 114 kilometers and can be covered by road.


Best time to visit Gangtok

The stunning hill station of the Himalayas in the north-east, Gangtok enjoys lovely climate all year round. The best time to go to Gangtok is between October and mid-December where the Clear views of the Himalayan peaks are definite in these months. Rhododendron in the blossoms is worth seeing a view to see the flowers between March and May. Ice in high altitude means in January and February. June to September brings rain, causing landslide and hamstring in the hill city.
