Lakshman Jhula is a suspension bridge located in Rishikes, Uttarakhand in North India connecting two villages one is Tapovan in Tehri Garhwal district and another side is Jonk in Pauri Garhwal District. Lakshman Jhula constructed in 1927-1929 with 450 feet span replacing old bridge 284 feet span.


Why we called Lakshman Jhula according to Ramayana, Shri Rama and Laxman had cross this river with help of Jute rope. It was made of jute ropes an ancient time of Ramayana and replaced by iron rope in 1889 by seth surajmal juhanubala but in year 1924 this bridge made of iron rope broken in flood. Then It rebuilt in 1930.


Shri Laxman Mandir is located west side of Lakshman Jhula and other side is temple of lord Rama is located here. Lord Shri Rama stays himself here in this location. After crossing Lakshman Jhula left side way go for Bidrinath and right side way go for swarg ashram. This is very fabulous place and devotees have great faith towards this holy place and thousands of Hindus and other come here to view and feel this amazing suspension bridge in Rishikesh. Many go for Nilkanth is located in top hill area of Rishikesh before going any places in Rishikesh mostly people cross this beautiful bridge.
